Toronto Street Art & Graffiti featuring Christiano De Araujo Queen West Mural Project as he works with his artist friend on lift using aerosol spray paint
Christiano De Araujo Working Live
I went to see Christiano De Araujo @christiano_artist last Tuesday – as I mentioned before — to see him working on his new mural. He asked why I didn’t say hello.. – Honestly, I didn’t want to disturb them. They seemed pretty focussed on their work. They were masking off different areas of that wall when I went by. (That equipment is very loud btw).
I don’t know how they are able to work all day like that – in the cold weather.. but they do ! The day I went by I think it was just 5C degrees (41F) and very windy too.. My fingers got cold just taking pictures.

I didn’t realize that this is his vision of Queen Street. There are different stories that make up this mural. You can see the different sections.
Queen Street West Mural Project
This is called the Queen Street West Mural Project. There was a competition to create a mural at this location with different designs submitted by many artists. Just 10 artists were the finalists and people were able to vote for the winning design. Christiano was selected as the winner and they commissioned him to do this mural. He also asked his artist friends to work on the mural with him.. He has a lot of talent working with him on this.
I used to live a block away from location about 15 years ago ironically. Its a very different neighbourhood than it was back then. Was interesting to see how much has changed. So many condos now. Its nice that they are doing some artwork to offset the glut of new buildings in the area.
I’ll post this again when its complete… but it looks great already ! I’m enjoying watching the progress of this mural.
