Alex Kennedy Tribute Aerosol Mural
Amazing tribute to Mike Kennedy aka Wunder @mrwuns who passed away at the end of September by @nick_sweetman @walesthe66 and script by @mr_tensoe2 in Graffiti Alley. That is Nick on the ladder working from a photo that he had in his hand.
The man portrayed in the mural was a veteran graffiti artist who inspired a lot of people. Its very moving to see to this in person — especially, when you know the story behind the artwork. They even did a smaller mural to the right of this – of Mike’s dog.
This is the ultimate way to pay respect to someone. Planting a tree or making a donation in someone’s name is a wonderful thing to do. But doing something like this is very powerful. Its a really touching way to remember them forever.
I actually got a bit of a lump in my throat when I saw this. So moving and so sad at the same time.
This is the artwork of his dog that seems to have been very important to him. The dog appears several times on his Instagram account. Its nice that they included his pet in this mural..
This is another photo – (not the best on my part – the lighting was the best- it was around sundown) of Mr. Wales working on this mural. When they have only ladders to work with – they have to go up and down to do all the details. Its really strenuous work doing this all day.. not to mention dangerous.
You can see on the ledge the aerosol cans that they are working with. They will go through dozens of these to complete a mural. Looks like Montana Cans is their choice !
