Kneil Kneil Spek Street Art

I stumbled on this near Palais Royale. At first I wasn’t sure what it was because it’s under some trees near the beach. Someone who goes by @evilkneil1 on Instagram has been painting these album covers on the side of plywood hoarding.

First up this was posted back in November and they have been adding to them over several months. It’s like an art gallery outdoors of all classic albums covers. It should be note that most of them are from the 70’s and 80’s.

Here are a few of them:

808 State Street Art Graffiti

This plywood graffiti mural is of 808 State and the original album was called New Build. The release date of this album was September 1988.

Bauhaus Street Art Graffiti

The artist calls it Singhaus in the mural but the original album that was released in 1985 was called Bauhaus 1979-1983.

Bob Marley Street Art Graffiti

The street art says Bob Blaze and the Inhalers – Catch a Fire but it’s obviously Bob Marley and the Wailer. The album Catch a Fire that was released in 1974.

David Bowie Street Art Graffiti

The plywood street art is Aladdin Inflame by David Inferno but it’s David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane and it was released in April 1973.

Diana Ross & Supremes Street Art Graffiti

Clearly the artwork lists the songs and it says by Diana Fuse and the Spapkes. I had to look for the cover but this is an album by – The Supremes Sing Holland – Dozier – Holland.

Fleetwood Mac Street Art Graffiti

Firewood Sac Roaring is really Fleetwood Mac Rumors and it was released February 1977.

Iggy Pop Street Art Graffiti

Icendy Pop and the Sizzler – Gun Power is Iggy Pop and the Stooges Raw Power that was released 1973.

Jimi Hendrix Street Art Graffiti

Are You Extinguished by The Flaming Sticks Experience is really the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the album is Are You Experienced that was released in 1967. This street art doesn’t look like the original album

Joy Division Street Art Graffiti

Hot Division is really Joy Division and that album Unknown Pleasures was released in 1979.

Killing Joke Street Art Graffiti

Released in 1980 this album is Killing Joke – self titled.

Kiss Street Art Graffiti

Hotter than Hell is an album by the rock group Kiss that was released in 1974. The artwork is a bit different than the original album.

Rancid Street Art Graffiti

One of the only albums in this series that was from the 90’s is this by Rancid. And out come the Wolves was released in August 1995. To be honest I never heard of this group or that album – I had to do my research.

Rush Street Art Graffiti

The only Canadian Group in this gallery is Rush and the album Fly by Night was released in 1975. The street art looks very similar.

Specials Street Art Graffiti

From 1979 the Specials album is called Too Hot by the Sparklers.

Violent Femmes Street Art Graffiti

Finally, this Violent Femmes album is retitled as Blister in the sand by the Violent Flames.

All of the albums seem to be a play on words that feature fire or heat.
