Throwback Thursday Street Art November 2015 P1
Street art changes the landscape. Just like the landscape … street changes as well. Sometimes street art is tagged with graffiti. Othertimes the street art was only intended to be temporary (like at a construction site). Sometimes weather changes the street art (rain, sun, cold). Sometimes the building street art was painted on was demolished.
All the street artists I’ve talked to are aware of the constantly evolving environment in which they are working. That’s part of the challenge and they all seem to take it in stride. It’s just how it is.
So with that… I was thinking off trying out something that might be a regular feature later on. Since street art changes so often it might be interesting to see how things used to look. Throwback thursday is a thing !
These pictures were all taken in November 2015.. and I’ll break it into 2 posts.
Anser Graffiti
This Anser face was on the wall of a Dollarama for a very long time. The same wall has a mural with a rooster on it now by Alex Bacon and Poser ABM done back in 2017.

Peeling Mural
I have no idea where I found this one. The paint was really peeling even back then.
Clandestinos Mural
So glad I got this picture back then of this Clandestinos mural. The owners of the cafe put a fence right in the middle. The street artwork is about the environment as you can tell.

Eliscer Movember Mural
This is what the Movember mural by Eliscer looked a few weeks after he finished it. It’s been tagged several times since. The tag on the right was there already and he incorporated it into his mural.

This street art by Uber5000 looks pretty much the same. There’s a small tag on the left now.. but otherwise it’s the same.

I think that little character on the right is by Eliscer.. and this spot pretty much looks the same.
Toronto Graffiti Street Art Found Here:
Anser & Pascal Paquette Mural
This collaboration is still here.. by Answer and Pascal Paquette. Unfortunately, the building is slated for demolition.
Tibet Mural
This small street art wall was for the Tibetan population that lives in Parkdale. Someone tagged it back in 2017. They eventually just painted it over it with black which is unfortunate.

Graffiti – Anser
That Anser Mysterious Date face was at the top of the stairwell for at least a month.
That red graffiti only lasted a week or so. It was kinda spooky reading it. Whoever wrote that has a lot of issues. Geez. I hope they got some help.

Full Mural
This mural by Eoin Murphy organized by Well and Good is outside a boxing gym. The gloves have been painted several different times. Currently they are white.
Yoga Mural
This street art with a Yogi has been tagged really badly. It used to be a yoga studio. There’s murals in the back with a similar theme (untagged).

Behave / Construction Site Graffiti
I think this was to cover up the construction site.
Someone wrote ‘behave’. Why Not !

“All your life you have waited for this moment.”
Then below, some one pasted “Please remind me three times out of the day not to left today pass me by”.
And.. you guessed .. this was really badly tagged several times after this photo was taken. There is a new mural by Pablo Westo on this same wall.
