Bugs Bunny Mikey Mouse Mural

Bugs Bunny Mikey Mouse Mural

I found this mural by @gondekdraws yesterday before the Wrdsmith.

From his Instagram “Matt Gondek Deconstructive Pop Artist. Los Angeles “.

Another artist from Los Angeles in town this weekend ?.. whats going on ? Are we being invaded by Californians ?
This looks like Mikey Mouse beating up Bugs Bunny… I would have thought that Bugs Bunny would be the victor in that match up…

These are well done… but I could definitely see Walt Disney having a problem with this.. Warner Brothers would feel the same. It’s very clever and the colors draw you in right away.

I had to take this on an angle because there’s a fence blocking the best view-point.
There’s a collaboration to the right of this that I’ll post after

Enjoy your Sunday Morning Cartoons.

Simpsons Parody Mural

Simpsons Parody Mural

This is to the right of the other mural. Appears to be Groundskeeper Willie eating a donut and drinking a Duff beer.  Collaboration with Paul Jackson

I see a lot of these types of cultural icons in graffiti artwork. I imagine because the characters are easily recognizable and people can identify with them. I’ve seen a lot of artist doing this. It falls under the ‘parody’ category so the trademark owners of these characters have no way of stopping the appropriation of their artwork.

The Simpsons I guess because the cartoon has been around for decades is parodied a lot. There are so many gifs of Marge and Homer that I Matt Groening would not have approved off.

The top image is to the left on Dundas Street in Skey Lane and the other one appears to the right hand side. This part of Toronto is getting its fair share of aerosol murals this summer.
