Downtown Montreal Murals October 2021

Most of these murals are from Murale Festivals years past. Some of the murals go back 10 years while others are only a year old. These pictures are from October 2021.

Make Noize Slap

If you walk around Montreal you will probably see a Slap by MakeNoize at some point in your travels. I’ve spotted a few of them in Toronto but Montreal has a lot of yellow smile slaps !

Maxilie Martel Mural

Local artist Maxilie Martel also has a lot of murals all over downtown Montreal – this one overlooks a park.

“Near the end of her studies, Maxilie found interest in the world of street art and graffiti that she finds more free and intuitive. She will get into it for four years before undertaking a master’s degree in sculpture in 2016 at Concordia University.”

“The World Within” by Jason Cantoro was done back in 2018. This is his largest mural and he seems to be mostly a canvas artist.

Loup XIV Graffiti Mural

Found that and noticed that it is signed Loup XIV but I am not sure if that is the artist. Its fun to find little murals like this all over the city. It looks like it has been there awhile.

Drew Merritt Mural

Krotchy by @drewmerritt – 2018

From Drew’s Website :

“i don’t want to talk about it.”

To be honest I did not know who ‘Krotchy’ was or is.. so I had to Google her.

She is Sarah McDaniel who “is an American model.[2][3][4] She appeared in the music video for Mark Ronson and Kevin Parker’s songs “Summer Breaking” and “Daffodils”,[5] and was the cover girl for Playboy magazine’s first non-nude issue in March 2016.[6]”

Wiki

She is famous for her eyes which are different colors.

Mateo Mural

Across from the Drew Merritt mural is this one by Mateo. The mural was apart of the 2016 Murale Festival.

Phyllis Lambert tribute mural by Melissa Del Pinto. I had to look up Phyllis Lambert.

“Phyllis Barbara Lambert, CC GOQ FRAIC FRSC RCA (née Bronfman; born January 24, 1927)[1] is a Canadian architect, philanthropist, and member of the Bronfman family.”

I noticed a lot of people taking selfie pictures in front of this mural. It makes for a nice background. The textures are beautiful.
