All the talk about that rubber duck ???? reminded me about this interesting sticker slap that I found back on June 15> It was on the outside of a newspaper box.
Its green and the duck has a sailor cap and appears to be crying. The cap says “CNT HOLD ⚓ ME DOWN”. The duck also has these cool designs on it – a ship with the American ????????and Canadian ???????? flags, a star ⭐️ , a rose ???? , a mermaid and a heart ❤️ . The heart has the letters WIA inside.
When I google WIA I get a Montreal based artist called What is Adam @whatisadam . Who seems to do sticker slaps. (Thank you for letting me know @roc_514 ????) Maybe its a political thing ? I dunno
Curious to see if the art was still there
I went back the day later hoping to snag it because I think its really well done. Guess what ? It was gone, someone must have snagged it for themselves. It wasn’t wheat paste based obviously.
I don’t post a lot of these (because people probably would find most of them strange). However, I am really getting into them. Its intriguing how you find a bunch of them all over the city and they don’t appear to be advertising anything. They are just there to be enjoyed and snatched sometimes
I’ll explain the Rubber Duck ???? thing too since most of my followers are not from Canada. For Canada Day celebrations a massive rubber duck was shipped into the harbour. A lot of people thought it was a waste of money. People complained that it wasn’t that big etc.. Just one of those things that happen every year that gives people something to gripe about. I personally, didn’t go and see it.. but I have no problem with money being spent on the arts. When they spend money on sporting events no one ever complains about that. ! Why can’t we have more art ???? in the city ? Even a temporary duck
