I found that mural with the tanks last week in an alleyway that I had never been down before.. (I found some really great garage doors all around here.. )
I took several pictures of this one.. but I had trouble because of the sunlight streaming overhead…. I didn’t clue into what it was until I looked at in on the computer later on.
It’s “Tank Man” which according to WIKI is “Tank Man is the nickname of an unidentified man who stood in front of a column of tanks on June 5, 1989, the morning after the Chinese military had suppressed the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 by force. As the lead tank maneuvered to pass by the man, he repeatedly shifted his position in order to obstruct the tank’s attempted path around him. The incident was filmed and seen worldwide. There were only a few sources who caught the incident on tape.”
“More than 28 years after the incident, there is no reliable information about the identity or fate of the man; the story of what happened to the tank crew is also unknown”
The famous photo below.. (also from Wiki) is by Jeff Widener…
Someone has that image on their garage door.. the only signatures that I could read on the bottom right were JDL & GM..

I stumbled upon this mural last week as well as the tank. I saw this on his website.. but I didn’t know where it was. Coincidently, it was down an alleyway that I had been passing for about 10 years or so..
This one is pretty interesting.. because its a mural of an alleyway in an actual alleyway.. ! That’s exactly what it looks like. Very clever.
This is by the same artist who did that garage door with the pig flying over the city... I put a collage in my story of this mural along with the pig ???? one so you can see them together.. check it out..
It looks like he changed his site recently.. for his bio he has this :
“Colin Teabee is an artist and illustrator based out of Toronto, Canada. Contact for information on purchasing original works, mural bookings, and other inquiries.”

So I noticed this stencil back in March.. it was on a utility box.. and it reads..
“Love comes // In tiny plots –
summers of garden // Along the
thoroughfare – white bikes for the
dead // Behind the factory – traces of
cardamom // Consoling a traveler –
the poet Hafez

I went back a few days after to get a better picture.. but it had been painted over..
Then last week — I found the second one – in alleyway.. and it reads..
a voice comes out of his rotten
body // i want to slice that body
open // see the dresses of black
blood // the lungs the nets //
of putrid gasping fish

On Monday I passed by @souvenirstudios (where I saw the first stencil back in March) and the shop owner explained to me that both were created by her friend.. Apparently, the city painted over the first one..
I think have seen a few more of these.. but now I’m going to have been keep my eyes open for others..
(This post is probably more suitable for @Tumblr but hoping some Instagrammers will like it as well.)
