I passed through here on Tuesday and noticed this mural that I had never seen before. I was hoping to learn more about it.. but I can’t find anything about it online. The artist signature says… “Rons Mish ’09” on the lower right hand side.. meaning it was done back in 2009.
The great thing about art.. its all up to you to interpret what it means… it might have no meaning — what so ever.. its there for you to decide what it means to you.
I was trying to figure out what she was thinking about. With her eyes closed.
1) Is she dreaming of world Peace ?
2) Is she hoping for Peace because of where she lives ?
3) Is she is at just at Peace with herself ?
I don’t know… maybe its none of the above.
This artwork is in a what they call an ‘at risk” neighborhood. I volunteered for over 12 months a block away from here in 2016 at a support housing agency doing reception duty. The night we did our volunteer training – someone was murdered a few hours after – steps away from this mural.
Lots of terrible suicides and killings have occurred all around this area. Some honestly. — just too awful to repeat. The things that keep you up at night. No exaggeration. I had to stop because it wasn’t good for my brain.
Usually, when you close your eyes.. you are dreaming, wishing, praying or maybe you are just at Peace with yourself. Personally, I am hoping she is just content with who she is.. like she is in her happy place..
