Weekend Urban Exploration of Toronto Graffiti Street Art
Here are some of the finds that I discovered mostly in west end Toronto. Some new murals, sticker slaps & plain old fashioned graffiti
Hand painted artwork
There are some new paintings at Ontario Place. Mostly around the bathrooms in those pavillons where the bridge is. This one is by Carlos Guevara. I’ll quote a little of what is on that placard to the right side
“Carlos Guevara is a self taught artist who lives in the York South Weston area. He creates artwork from his imagination using water colour and acrylic paints. Carlos is also versed in photography and has a strong and varied background using technology to manipulate images and create pieces that inspire and provoke. You can follow him on social media @artkrave”
This artwork is to the right hand side of the previous mural. There wasn’t a placard about this artist, so I don’t know who its by. These were all done for the Canada 150 celebrations in July.
Post No Bills Stencil.
A guy passing came and chatted me up when I was taking a photo of this. He had never seen these stencils before. This is Bill Murray and to the left of this was an upside Bill Cosby. Bill Clinton and Bill Gates are also in these stencils that I have seen for 10 years at least now.
(Funny how people only notice things when you take pictures of things. It seems to happen to me all the time lately, people stop and take out their cameras.)
Ben Johnston Mural
As I suspected, this mural is by Ben Johnston. He really does amazing typography, very impressive. This one is inside a courtyard area with shops and restaurants.
I noticed this one a couple of years ago and didn’t realize who it was done by, its by Ben Johnston as well.
Found this artwork last weeek on Ossington
Think this is by Ben Johnston as well.. His work is all over this Queen and Ossington – he does a lot of work for cafes and bars.
Found this mural outside a house
It just says “Crems” on the upper hand side. I googled that name and can’t find anyone that goes by that, I looked on Instagram as well.
I found this the week earlier. So that same artist has obviously worked on both of these murals. It’s a nice splash of color on the front of these houses. Its going to look amazing in January when the snow falls.
