Graffiti photography found in Toronto. Most graff is created with an aerosol spraycan. Spray can art has evolved from the ‘art’ of tagging. Tagging is where a graffiti artist or a crew spray their ‘tag’ or name on private property. Some people debate the difference between what they consider to be street art and what they consider to be street art. For the purpose of this website – I categorize this as unauthorized art. Street art can evolve from street art. The city of Toronto has many art programs that encourage streetart and discourage graffiti. Other types of art forrm can include stickerslaps or sticker bombs but aerosol tagging is considered to be most know. Sometimes graff ‘writers’ will tag on street art murals, which is seen as vandalism. Former mayor Rob Ford was an opponent of graff but through him many streetart programs such as Start Toronto were created during his tenure.
